Staffordshire hoard have been used to make exquisite jewellery

In 2009, metal detector enthusiast and amateur treasure hunter Terry Herbert was searching for metal on farmland owned by a friend when he came across the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold ever to be discovered in history -5 kilos altogether. Along with the huge amounts of gold, he also discovered 2.5 kilos of silver. The items were predominantly war-related items, some of which were parts for weapons. The hoard was thought to have belonged to the Anglo-Saxon elite –aristocracy or royalty -due to its intricate design and metalwork. Many of the gold and silver items looked as though they had been torn from other objects, such as fittings from helmets or sword belts, indicating that they were possibly trophies from war or even the spoils from a long military career, but whatever the case, the nature of the objects became apparent that their origin was more than likely a bloody and violent one. This astounding find has now become known as the staffordshire hoard.
Now, the images of the items found in the Staffordshire hoard have been used to make exquisite jewellery which encompasses the mysterious nature of Celtic art and celebrates this rare and fantastical find. The pieces are made from Cornish bronze and capture the beauty of the Anglo-Saxon artifacts.
